2006 WLAOTC Show ‘n Assist
Protocol
Download
a printable .pdf version
The monthly Show 'n Go will henceforth
be called the Show ‘n Assist in celebration of the reciprocality of our
WLAOTC members’ mutually sustaining relationships. To clarify expectations,
duty assignments will be specific.
The order of classes will rotate from month
to month as they have in the past, i.e. the last class of the prior month
will become the first class of the current month. The first class
running on the day will be responsible for helping to set up the ring,
baby gates, jumps, etc. Anyone not in the first class who would like
to help set up is welcome. If a timely start is important to you
then, by all means, come and help set up! Participants in the first
class of the day are responsible for arriving early in order to begin setting
up at 8:30 a.m. (please allow extra time if you are also setting up personal
equipment such as crates and x-pens). The judge will begin after
the ring is set up. Those in the last class of the day or the last
five participants according to the sign-up list (whichever group is larger)
will be responsible for tearing down the equipment and returning it to
the lockers. Again, any one not in this group who would like to help
is welcome.
Every participant, regardless of class,
will be required to steward once for each time they run a dog. The limit
is two runs total per day so you can run two dogs once or one dog twice
if you choose. The sign-up sheet will now include a column for steward
sign-ups and participation will be matched against this list. Helping
change jump heights, acting as a post for figure eights, and in Utility,
laying out gloves, articles and go-out targets, are all responsibilities
of the steward. All dogs not being actively handled are to be contained
in crates (close the door, please!), ex-pens or vehicles, including the
time during which you are responsible for stewarding another participant.
If the participant for whom you are stewarding is warming up for their
run, you should be getting ready by securing your dog.
Some consequences for non-compliance:
Those wishing to be in the first class
who do not arrive early enough to be listed in the set up crew (i.e. before
the poles go into the ground) will not run dogs in the first class of the
day. Those shirking stewarding duties or those responsible for tear
down who do not participate in returning the equipment to the lockers will
have their names noted on the sign up list and lose the privilege of running
any dogs at the following Show ‘n Assist. In order to run a dog at
the next Show ‘n Assist they may attend, they must be present for set-up,
even if they are not showing in the first class of the day.
[Please announce your intent to the co-chairs so that we may note your
participation.]

has 12 qualifying runs in AKC Excellent and 12 qualifying runs in NADAC
Elite, the applicant may choose which runs to include. If a dog has
qualified six times in AKC Excellent and four times in USDAA Advanced and
three times in NADAC Open, the six Excellent scores must be used for SCT
points; the applicant may then add whichever Advanced or Open scores he/she
wishes.) To win a group award, a dog must have earned a minimum of
